In April 2019 we at tastebrandy.com opened a new warehouse in Croatia for the EU customers. Now we are supplying from Croatia to the rest of the EU, mostly via road couriers. Why?

1.    Why Do I Have to Order My Own Shipping?

It’s quite a normal question: „Why can’t I pay you for the delivery and you just drop it over to my place?“ What’s the bothering about?

We suggest you pay for the courier. Because if we pay for the courier, we as a seller, would be obliged to charge you with the excise duty and VAT in your country. If you order brandy from Finland, we would have to charge you the Finnish excise duty on alcohol and the Finnish VAT. It means our regarded plum Brandy Uspomena Memory would cost €36.99 instead of €13.87. The difference of over €20 just for this single  bottle covers all the shipping costs from Croatia to Finland.

If you pay for the shipping, according to actual EU regulations, it is considered as if you bought it in Croatia and ordered the courier to go to our warehouse in Croatia, collect your brandy and bring it over north straight to Finland.

If we pay for the shipping, it’s not just that we would sell it at 36.99€, but we would still have to charge you the same price for the shipping.

But we took care of it and made it quite simple for you. All what you have to do is to click on the link and pay for the shipping. We do the rest. We take care of the packaging, cardboxes, polystyrene, fragile items, etc. We know how to handle it.

2.    Croatian Excise Duty Is the Second Lowest In the EU

When buying at tastebrandy.com, you ar actually buying Serbian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Macedonian or Bosnian slivovitz plum brandy at Croatian prices. The customers receive their parcels free of any further customs duty. Croatian excise duty and VAT is already calculated into the price.

Croatia has the 2nd lowest excise duty on alcohol in the EU. The highest excise duties on alcoholic beverages have Sweden, Finland, Ireland, UK. To ilustrate how much can be saved if buying in Croatia, we bring you the table: 10 of our selected slivovitz bottles with prices in Croatia and other EU countries:

It means that eg. Plum Brandy Slivovitz Memory-Uspomena costs 13.78€ in Croatia. The same slivovitz would cost €37.97 if imported into Sweden and paid Swedish excise duty and VAT. Uspomena would be 26.84€ in the UK, so you can buy two bottles in Croatia at the price of a single bottle in the UK.

The differences become even higher if compared on a box of 6 bottles. Eg. if you buy a box of 6 bottles Slivovitz Plum Brandy Uspomena-Memory in Croatia, it costs 82.68€, in Sweden it would cost almost triple- 227.85€, in the UK it would be almost double- €161.06, or €78.38 more than in Croatia. 3.    Our German Shop

Apart from Croatia, we have the same warehouse in Germany and the products and the prices can be found at https://www.tastebrandy.de. The German shop is dedicated to German customers and so far it cannot deliver the brandy out of Germany.

Should you buy at our German or Croatian shop? This dillema exists only for our customers in Germany. They can choose either to place their orders at tastebrandy.de or at the Croatian tastebrandy.com.

If they place their orders at tastebrandy.de, the parcel arrives the second working day via DHL and it costs €4.95. If they order at tastebrandy.com, they can expect their parcels in a week time and the delivery prices are a bit higher. But the shipping speed and price is not the only moment that should be taken into consideration. We strive to have richer offer at our Croatian shop tastebrandy.com

 If you decide to order both on tastebrandy.com and tastebrandy.de, you’d have to register twice and have two different accounts. The customer service is unique and we can help you with your choice both at tastebrandy.de and tastebrandy.com.
