Even though Stara Rakija has only several products in its assortment, it doesn’t mean that these special brandies aren’t worth more than dozens of others.
When we wish with our whole hearts to reach something like perfection, we might end up covered with sadness and disappointment, because “true perfection” is unreachable. We can work harder, learn more, take advices, but perfection… And, as the lady behind the Stara Rakija (meaning “Old Brandy”), Tatjana Miletic, says:”Perfection is not the feature of this world, but I try with all my heart to reach it.” She learned from many others, that the task can’t be done well, if not done with love. With the combined powers of knowledge and passion, success is sure to come. It all began in 2005, when she started working on the product that has all the features of the perfection: quality, tradition, all natural, hand made, design, and marketing (well, okay, marketing isn’t exactly the guarantee of the perfection, but is necessary in this world). The production started on the mountain Zlatibor, where she came up with the idea to combine all recapture with new aromas, so that she can create a whole new taste. In 2009, two special brandies entered the market: “Mednica” and “Prepecenica.” In 2010, the third product appeared under the name of “Dunjica.” Finally, on the fourth Rakia Fest, the fourth brandy came out under the name of “Sumska.”
Did you know?
Even though Stara Rakija has only several products in its assortment, it doesn’t mean that these special brandies aren’t worth more than dozens of others. The fruits used for the creation of these brandies are high quality, from the plantages high in the mountain. The entire process of production is traditional, starting with the harvesting. Even the cauldrons are handmade, as well as the barrels. Each and every bottle is manually packed, and washed down with wax, which is the ancient way of packing. “Dunjica” is made of golden colored quince, and has a very specific aroma, with a specific, nostalgic feeling. I say nostalgic, because many decades ago, it was a common case to see a quince on a closet, because of its strong and wonderful smell. “Sumica” is the combination of a traditional slivovitz, honey, propolis, and forest fruit. It has a special a dose of elegance and luxury. “Prepecenica” is traditional slivovitz, and it sticks closely to the tradition. “Mednica” is based on traditional slivovitz, with the addition of honey and propolis. Recently, two new products entered the scene: “Viljamovka” and “Kajsijica,” and many others are waiting to meet you.
