Pleasant plum brandy Slivovitz of tawny colour aged in barrel made of oak and chestnut tree, with distinctive taste.

The Tzuga slivovitz is distilled of 4 different species of prunes: The Beauty of Cacak (Cacanska lepotica), Cacanska rodna, Stanley and Crvena ranka, all in strict proportions in order to gain full taste. 8 kg of ripe plum is used to distill one litre of Tzuga plum brandy. The pitted plums are left to ferment, twice distilled and afterwards aged in barrels. Accroding to the specific demands of the distillery, the barrels are made of precise ratio of oak wood and chestnut wood, so the slivovitz gaines its specific taste and aftertaste.

Wow! This not actually booze (cuga, tzuga), as they called it. It is rather complex and deep. This chestnut wood stuff makes it distinct from the other plum brandies that I've tasted. It's certainly worth it.

The family Rajin of Banat, east-northern region of Serbia, has been engaged in fruit brandy distilling for generations. It is small family production, growing fruit in their own orchards and bottling the rakija od their own estate. A variety of fruit brandies is produced, as well as liqueurs and gin. „All our fruit brandies are made of 100% fruit, no sugar, no artificial aromas are added“, proudly emphasizes Milan Rajin, master distiller and head of the family.
