Well chilled will serve as an excellent apperitif before a meal. Maraska from Zadar, Croatia is one of the most famous modern Croatian companies. It has a long tradition in producing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages of various types and flavors. The first craft production in Zadar dates back in 1779: local peasants were supplying the Zadar distillery with home grown marasca sour cherry variety. Mild and a bit sweet liqueur aged with unripe, green walnuts Walnut Liqueur Monastery Kovilj is mild and a bit sweet liqueur aged with unripe, green walnuts. Known for its exceptional curative features. 0.7 l, 30% alc. The brandy of variuous fruit is distilled and poured into barique barrels. Unripe green walnuts are added to the brandy in order to age with it and to calm it down. Too sweet for me, but I like the odor of unripe walnut. It was founded by Saint Sava in the early 13th century. Saint Sava was a prince and the first archbishop of Serbian Orthodox Church. The Monastery was built on the spot where Saint Sava healed the son of the Hungarian King Andrew II. Monastery has a large brotherhood, school of iconography and produces reputable cheese, wine and brandy.
